CASTOR is a simplified database system that is suitable for thedistribution of a fixed amount of chemical information in a compact,robust, and easy-to-use manner. Uses of CASTOR include chemical catalogs,registration number cross-referencing, regulatory lists, and in-housechemical dictionaries.Users can access a CASTOR record by specifying the structure or anyprovided identifier such as registration number. CASTOR uses a veryrobust form of structure lookup that works with isotopic, chiral,tautomeric, and graph lookups. Graphical input and depiction of resultsis also included.CASTOR works locally, much like a spelling checker with a word processor.CASTOR's datasets are very compact; most catalogs fit on a floppy disk.CASTOR is not a general-purpose chemical information database.
